Besides trading raw materials and semi-finished products, GERCHI is actively involved in mining operations for iron ore and other raw materials, respectively minerals, mainly in South East Asia and Latin America. Our involvement can be discribed follows:
1. Operating our own mine(s);
2. Partnering with mine owners;
3. Consulting mining companies, when it comes to mining and beneficiation processes;
4. Marketing raw materials and semi-finished products and customized mining and processing equipment;
Operating our own mines:
Between early 2006 and end of 2008 GERCHI operated, through its daugther company GERCHI Mining Co. Ltd., an iron and manganese ore mine in Kamanman, Pehang, Malaysia.
We established the mine plan according to our survey and set up a separation process including dense-media and magnetic dressing to increase production with quality control. Thus, we produced a specialized product, a High Fe Manganese Lump Ore (Mn 23% min. and Fe 25% min.), which was sold to Rockcheck Iron and Steel Co. Ltd. in China.

The total mining operation period of the mine was 24 months, including construction and production.
The project ended at the end of 2008, as all qualified material was mined, processed and shipped to market.

Since 2020, we are in the process of obtaining an iron ore mine license near Culliacan, Sinnaloa, Mexico. We will update, as soon as we have tangible news.
Partnering with mine owners:
From 2009 to 2010, we partnered with the iron ore mine San Jose in Sinaloa, Mexico (today operated by AcelorMittal), by way of joint venture.
GERCHI consulted the mine owners in order to improve output and quality and was responsible for the marketing of the Iron Ore Fines (60% Fe).
33.154mt of iron ore fines where exported from Topolobampo Port, Mexico in 2010 together with our sister company EIRON GmbH, Germany.

Thereafter, the cooperation ceased, but the mine exported successfully 61 shipments between 2011 until 2014.

Consulting mining commpanies:
In 2019, we consulted the mine owners of Dos Hermanos iron ore mine, Sinaloa, Mexico.
The goal was to upgrade the quality of the iron ore fines from approx. 38% Fe, run off mine to min. 58% Fe with a beneficiation process at the mine site.
As a second beneficiation step the iron ore fines are now being concentrated at the concentration facility at Tabala, Sinaloa, Mexico to a plus 65% Fe iron ore concentrate, which is exported through Topolobampo Port.

Besides other raw materials and semi-finished products, Pig iron is shipped out of Brazil to different markets.

Whether we act as seller only, by way of consultant, or as partner for our counter parts in the mines/process facilities, we find the the best suitable mining and processing equipment for the purpose it shall serve.
The final quality, specification and price will always depend on the mine size, process capacity, raw material to be processed and dimenssion of the undertaking, as well as the financial capacity of the customer.

Analyzing equipments (spectrometers and small laboratories to anaylze the raw materials, respectively products) to mining– (excavators, front loaders and conveyor belts) and classifying/beneficiating (crushers, screens, grinding, thickening and dewatering) equipment.
